Overview

The Work Integrated Learning Office at Mkoba Teachers College is dedicated to facilitating the development of innovative world-class Early Childhood Development (ECD) facilitators, Junior school facilitators, and Secondary school science education teachers who are competent to work in diverse contexts.

Our mission is to empower student teachers with the ability to engage in top-notch research and entrepreneurial activities, as well as exposing them to the world of technology to enhance teaching and learning. The Office also seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world classroom experience, ensuring that our teacher trainees are well-prepared for their professional careers.

Objectives

• Practical Experience: To provide students with hands-on teaching experience in diverse educational settings. To guide students to come up with feasible projects and engage in community development work.
• Skill Development: To enhance the acquisition of decision-making, problem-solving, and pedagogical skills through observation, participation, and reflection in actual classrooms.
• Professional Growth: To foster the development of professionalism among student teachers.

Key Responsibilities

• Placement Coordination: Organizing and managing student placements in various schools.
• Mentorship Programs: Pairing student teachers with experienced mentors for guidance and support.
• Evaluation and Feedback: Conducting assessments of student teachers' performance and providing constructive feedback.
• Workshops and Training: Offering workshops and training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies and classroom management strategies.

Collaboration

The Work Integrated Learning Office collaborates closely with local schools, educational authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and supportive teaching practice experience for our students.
